Stars burn out all the time. Is anybody in this world acutally coming up with a contingency plan?

We know for a fact that stars burn out eventually. The sun is a star. Forget about nuclear war and global warming, what about the end of our main life source. I know that we have hydroponics and indoor UV lights, but there wouldn't be enough to sustain billions of people. Besides, our water comes from rain which comes from the various weather patterns which are governed by the sun and the moon (right?). Are there scientists that are actually working on some kind of contingency plan or is finding another inhabitable planet all we got?

I've got one. When the sun burns out we send a huge ball of twine into outerspace and then light it with a match and hope for the best! lol
