What is the difference between a Nintendo DS Lite, DSi, and XL?

My daughter wants a DS, but I'm not sure which to get or what the differences are between the various models. I realize that the DSi has some wi-fi connectivity to play games with others online. This is a subscription service or is free? Do you have to know other people to play with them or they can just meet and play? Any changes coming around the corner that I should be aware of to wait? Any help is appreciated.

DS Lite - a re-design is thin, shiny, and light of the Nintendo DS. Very standard. You can play DS games or old games gameboy advance. DSi - Basically just an upgraded version of the DS Lite, but you can not play gameboy advance games. The main differences is that it features two digital cameras, supports internal and external content storage and connects to an online store called Nintendo DSi Shop. XL - Exactly the same as the DSi is just much greater in size. The 3DS new will be coming out soon, but I recommend simply keep it simple and get a Lite ...
