Playstation 3 HDMI trouble! HELP! PS3 HDMI sound to work, but not the video?

I use my PS3 on a standard TV and stereo so far, using AV cables. Everything worked fine. Today I received a new stereo system, a Sony Multi Channel AV Receiver, model number "STR-DG720." It supports HDMI, digital and audiovisual. So now I have a TV standard, and its HD. So I used an HDMI cable from the PS3 on the HDMI port on the receiver that was marked BD (Blu-Ray, which is apparently what to use for the PS3 to the receiver.) To make the change, I had the HDMI cable connected to "BD", and the AV cable plugged "VIDEO2". I went to the video 2, and switched the settings of the PS3 in HDMI for video and audio. BD i switched on the receiver, and I had no image, but I had sound. Thats where I'm stuck. Is it possible that I can get my video to work via the HDMI cable, even if it's a standard TV? If not, how do I get to work with standard video HDMI surround

Your AV receiver can have HDMI, but HDMI can just be passing through. Connect video output directly frpm the PS3 to TV Connect the digital audio from the PS3 to the AV receiver.
